Before disaster struck, Reds manager Arne Slot did not hold back at the Liverpool title-winning parade on Monday, basking in leading the club to the Premier League title at the first time of asking — the fifth manager to accomplish the trick.
The league win is far from the Dutchman's first silverware as a head coach: Slot has won plenty during his time in the Netherlands. Still, when speaking at the parade, he seemed clear where this league win ranks amongst his career honors.
"Haha, I don't think that's so difficult," he said without much hesitation. "That's by far the number one. It's just beyond what you can expect, what you can dream of maybe. Unbelievable"
Slot faced the impossible challenge of replacing the beloved Jurgen Klopp last summer, and the club failed to bring in any senior signings during the 2024 window.
Nonetheless, Liverpool lost just one in the club's first Premier League games as part of a gentle waltz to a 20th league title. Slot led the trophy celebrations at Anfield on Sunday.
Prior to the the tragic incident of the car plowing through the crowd, Slot was blown away by the festivities. "You can't imagine what you see over here. Of course, I've won a few things before and [it was] so, so beautiful. But this is... you can't compare it with anything."

The Dutchman even made time to sign placards, photos, balls, and more from those in attendance. When asked if the parade is a spiritual experience, he admitted, "Yeah, it is. Young, old, every age is here. Looked them in the eyes and it says it all, and that's what you said, that's exactly how it feels, yeah."
Slot had his AZ Alkmaar side level with Dutch giants Ajax in the 2019/2020 season before the COVID-19 Pandemic wrecked European football. No title was awarded.
He moved to Feyenoord in 2021 and swiftly led the Dutch outfit to the Conference League Final. The next season, the side were Eredivisie champions. In his final campaign, Feyenoord captured the KNVB Cup.
Slot even captured a pair of medals in his playing days, notching a pair of Ereste division wins (the Dutch second division) during his time with PEC Zwolle in the 2000s.
The former Feyenoord boss will look to build on his already-impressive CV next season. He had the Reds in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 and the League Cup final a season ago, though both campaigns ended in heartbreak.
