West Ham United need to be proactive in the summer transfer window to set things up for a better 2025/26 campaign.
Following the atrocious performances and results this term. The Irons must refresh an ageing squad and rid themselves of a few underperforming players.
Selling these players would bolster the coffers and give West Ham more money to upgrade several areas of the pitch.
Read on as we look at seven players West Ham should part ways with in the 2025 summer transfer window.
**Konstantinos Mavropanos**
Konstantinos Mavropanos was a promising defender in the Bundesliga but has been an error-prone disaster in the Premier League. He has cost West Ham games with his poor in-game IQ.
Mavropanos should be one of the first names on the chopping block this summer after an underwhelming stint in East London.
His sale can add to the funds needed to sign another defender.
**Guido Rodriguez**
West Ham had high hopes when they picked up Real Betis holding midfielder Guido Rodriguez on a free transfer, but he has struggled to make an impact at the London Stadium.
Any sum the Hammers get for his signature will count in the green as the club picked him for free. Finding a reliable defensive midfielder who adds steel and control should be a priority.
**Niclas Fullkrug**
Speaking of disappointing signings, Niclas Fullkrug was supposed to give West Ham firepower up top, but spent a chunk of the season sidelined through injury.
The German international has been riding the bench under manager Graham Potter and will likely head for the exit door this summer. Goodbye!
Hopefully, the club can get a decent fee for his services.
**Edson Alvarez**
Edson Alvarez suffered a steep decline this season, failing to hit his usual heights in the West Ham engine room. The former Ajax man was not good enough on either side of the ball.
Alvarez must be sold this summer. [The club is already looking at names like Raphael Onyedika (Club Brugge)](https://westhamblog.co.uk/posts/club-brugge-star-raphael-onyedika-emerges-as-one-of-west-hams-top-transfer-targets-this-summer/) to replace the Mexican.
**James Ward-Prowse**
Apart from the occasional set-piece delivery, what else does James Ward-Prowse offer? He does not provide control, thrust, attacking impetus, or defensive cover.
His transfer has been disappointing, and he needs a new stomping ground to revive his career. Perhaps a return to his old club, Southampton? No one knows, but he needs to leave.
**Emerson Palmieri**
Emerson Palmieri looks like a fish out of water in the wing-back slot of Potter’s three-at-the-back formation.
The club needs fresh legs and should ideally move on from the 30-year-old Italian international.
Palmieri does not provide the attacking verve and defensive intensity the club needs right now. They should sell him while he still has some value.
**Luis Guilherme**
Tim Steidten went to Brazil to get a deal for Luis Guilherme over the line. His interest in the youngster got fans excited about his potential. Guilherme has been disappointing.
The 19-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance but ultimately does not move the needle. West Ham need to cash in on Feyenoord’s interest in his services.
**Others who might be sold**
The club could cash in on Lucas Paqueta if a suitable offer comes. The same goes for Mohammed Kudus, arguably West Ham’s most sellable asset.
However, these are two of West Ham’s best players. They can bounce back with aplomb next season if they get the chance to shine.
Jean-Clair Todibo should also get a chance to atone for his uninspiring debut campaign despite clamours from different corners to sell him.
