'Looking into a deal': Chelsea's London rivals are already trying to sign £50m player from them - journalist

One of Chelsea’s London rivals are wasting no time in the transfer market as they look to strengthen their squad.

With the Premier League season now over, clubs can now focus on bringing in new players. And Chelsea could be a good place to shop this summer.

Exits are expected at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Ben Chilwell, Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix all likely to depart.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor recently discussed Nkunku and Felix, urging Chelsea to get rid of the two attackers after their lack of impact in west London.

Brentford want to sign Ben Chilwell

In the last summer transfer window, Brentford were interested in signing Chilwell, and it looks like they still have the defender on their radar.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that the Bees are “looking into a deal” to sign Chilwell from their west London rivals.

The left-back is surplus to requirements at Chelsea and spent the second half of the season at Crystal Palace, where he was able to win the FA Cup.

Premier League 8 1 0

FA Cup 3 0 0

Total 11 1 0

Chelsea bought Chilwell from Leicester City in a £50m deal and helped the Blues to get their hands on the Champions League trophy in 2021.

However, since then, the 28-year-old has lost his place in the Chelsea team to Marc Cucurella. In the words of teammate Robert Sanchez, Cucurella has been “unbelievable” this season, so there is zero chance of Chilwell winning back his spot.

Why Chelsea are unlikely to sign Milos Kerkez to address left-back dilemma

With Chilwell unlikely to remain at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea may need to sign a new left-back. The Blues still have Renato Veiga on their books, but his future is also up in the air at the moment.

They are thought to have an interest in Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez but will find it extremely difficult to convince the 21-year-old to join them.

It has been reported that Kerkez only wants to sign for Liverpool, so he will not be the man coming in to help out Cucurella, who had no natural cover during the second part of the campaign.
