Real Madrid superstar suffers serious setback in legal case involving former club

In a fresh development reported by Mundo Deportivo, the French courts have lifted the precautionary embargo on €55 million that Kylian Mbappe is demanding from his former club Paris Saint-Germain.

The Real Madrid forward, who left PSG as a free agent in the summer of 2024, has been locked in a legal dispute with the Ligue 1 club over unpaid wages and loyalty bonuses.

Back in April, Mbappe’s legal team secured a preventive embargo on three of PSG’s accounts, effectively freezing €55 million.

However, this Monday, the enforcement judge at the Paris Court of First Instance overturned that decision. The court ruled that there was not enough proof of an existing debt or immediate financial risk to justify freezing the club’s assets.

While the court initially allowed him to act on this claim, the amount that could be enforced was limited to €14 million.

According to PSG, there was a verbal agreement reached in the summer of 2023 in which Mbappe allegedly agreed to forgo a portion of the money owed to help the club’s financial situation.

However, those close to the French international have labelled that claim as “pure fantasy” and maintain that no such deal existed.

The case, which was set to be heard this week, has been postponed. The legal proceedings are now expected to continue before the Industrial Court, prolonging the uncertainty over whether Mbappe will recover the full amount.

Judging by the look of things, it is safe to argue that any judgment in this matter will take a considerable amount of time, as neither party is ready to settle for anything less than a win.
