Celtic Football Club have issued a statement following the horrific scenes in Liverpool during the club’s Premier League victory parade on Monday evening.

The Hoops expressed their support and solidarity with those affected, posting: “Our sincere thoughts and prayers are with @LFC, all those people affected and the city of Liverpool following this evening’s tragic incident.”
The parade, intended to be a moment of celebration for Liverpool, was marred by a devastating incident as a car ploughed into a crowd. Nearly 50 people were injured, including four children. Twenty-seven individuals were taken to hospital, with two reported to be in serious condition – one of them a child.
Merseyside Police confirmed that a 53-year-old white man from the local area has been arrested. He is believed to be the driver of the vehicle involved. Authorities have also confirmed they are not treating the incident as terrorism-related.
Police have appealed to the public not to speculate on the circumstances and have urged people to stop sharing distressing footage of the crash circulating on social media.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kier Starmer was quich to issue his statement, he posted on X, “The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected. I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident. I’m being kept updated on developments and ask that we give the police the space they need to investigate.”
The football world has responded with shock and sympathy, with clubs, players, and fans showing support for the Liverpool community.
