'Sensational...' - Alan Shearer left in awe of 'incredible' Mohamed Salah after what he did for Liverpool

Liverpool have been the most dominant team in the Premier League this season, with the Reds often leaving everything on the pitch.

Indeed, Liverpool’s form may have taken a turn for the worse as the end of the campaign drew closer, but when the title was already confirmed, you can’t blame them for wanting to celebrate it a bit.

The Anfield outfit already have a team filled to the brim with talent, but with their rivals such as Manchester City and Arsenal looking to improve their ranks in the summer, it would be silly for Liverpool not to try and bolster their squad.

Several players have already been linked with a move to Liverpool, with Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong the closest to confirming their transfers.

And, although the 2025-26 summer transfer window is set to be a busy one, that doesn’t mean that Arne Slot’s current players should be left out of his plans, especially after the campaign they’ve had.

Alan Shearer praises Mohamed Salah for matching the Premier League goal contributions record

There’s no denying that Mohamed Salah has been Liverpool’s best player this season.

Without the Egyptian King among their ranks, it’s highly unlikely that they’d have been as far ahead in the table as they ended up.

And, while speaking on Match of the Day, Alan Shearer gave his verdict on the attacker and the numbers he’s put in.

“What a season, what a player, twenty-nine goals in the league and 18 assists,” Shearer said. “It’s just ridiculous consistency from this guy.

“He very rarely misses any games and the brilliance he brings to Liverpool [is so important].”

“Once he gets on [his left foot] he really is deadly and he’s an incredible player.

“Obviously he plays in a really good team and good teams need great players. There’s no doubt he is that and he’s been absolutely sensational.”

Mohamed Salah could be key for Liverpool once again next season

The fact that both Salah and Virgil van Dijk chose to extend their stays at Liverpool shows that the project Slot has lined up for the Anfield outfit is a solid one.

The duo have both been key to the way that things have panned out at Anfield this season, and without them, it’s hard to see how Slot’s men would have been so dominant.

Granted, they both might be getting on a bit in football terms, but, with the numbers that Salah has put in this term, it’s hard to see how he won’t be essential to Slot next season.

Indeed, things can change, and we could have a completely different Salah turn up next season, but with the way his career has panned out since joining Liverpool, it feels nigh on impossible for his standards to drop.

Only time will tell what the future holds, but with the way things have started off this season, the Reds seem to be in more than capable hands.
