Transfer news LIVE!

The opening of the first of two summer transfer windows is not too far away now as Liverpool are believed to be closing in on a stunning triple deal. Reports claim the Reds have submitted a first offer Florian Wirtz, have agreed personal terms with Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez and are expected to wrap up the signing of Jeremie Frimpong.

Meanwhile Premier League runners-up Arsenal are focusing their attentions towards attacking reinforcements. A new centre-forward link has entered the equation with Julian Alvarez now an alternative to Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko. There has been a stumbling block in a potential move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, hence the Gunners are now said to be looking at AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, as well as Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma and Ademola Lookman.

Manchester United are set to confirm the signing of Matheus Cunha, whilst they have opened talks with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo and remain keen on Mike Maignan, along with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Joao Pedro.

Chelsea have Liam Delap in their sights but could instead turn to Hugo Ekitike, while Kevin De Bruyne will travel for talks with Napoli as Barcelona look at Marcus Rashford and Luis Diaz and speculation continues over a possible move for Cristiano Ronaldo in time for the Club World Cup. Xabi Alonso’s appointment as the new Real Madrid boss has also now been confirmed. Follow all the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip live below!

Arsenal join race for Alvarez

Could Julian Alvarez be on his way back to the Premier League this summer?

The Argentine only left England last summer as in the search for regular first-team football he joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City.

Alvarez enjoyed a fine season in Spain, netting 29 goals in 54 appearances across all competitions.

Such form has seen him linked with a move to Liverpool, though Marca claim Arsenal are interested too and are pushing hardest for his signature.

Ronaldo transfer hint?

Cristiano Ronaldo hinted that he has reached the end of his Al Nassr career, days after Gianni Infantino claimed he could make a shock transfer move ahead of the Club World Cup.

The Portugal international signed to the Saudi club in 2023, bringing a controversial end to his second spell at Old Trafford, scoring 99 goals in 111 appearances but lifting just one trophy, the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup.

Al Nassr were beaten 3-2 by Al Fateh on Monday as they finished third in the Saudi Pro League. He has now hinted that his career in Riyadh is coming to a close, though, as the 40-year-old posted a cryptic message across his social media accounts after the match.

Rashford set for United return

Marcus Rashford is among the Man United loanees set to return to Old Trafford at the end of his stay with Aston Villa, who are not interested in activating their buy option.

The England international impressed on arrival in Birmingham but missed the run-in through injury, with reports making clear he hoped to play in the Champions League next season. Villa did not qualify after losing to United on the final day of the season following Emi Martinez’s red card.

He is expected to be available for £40m this summer as United look to enact a fire sale of their squad, with all players thought to be available.

Jadon Sancho, who spent this season on loan at Chelsea, is rumoured to be set for the same fate, though this remains unconfirmed.

Liverpool set for busy summer

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner believes owners Fenway Sports Group owe it to the club's fans to build on their Premier League title win.

A second championship in five years, and the first to be lifted in front of supporters since 1990 due to Covid restrictions in 2020, was celebrated wildly inside and outside of Anfield following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

Arne Slot's team had everything wrapped up a month ago and that has helped the club advance their transfer planning more rapidly, with a deal effectively done for Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong and talks continuing with the Bundesliga side over a club-record £125million signing of forward Florian Wirtz.

The club are also looking for a new left-back, with Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez of interest, and possibly a striker and centre-half.Asked if there was a busy summer ahead, Werner said: "It's already busy.

"We go again. It never gets old, winning. We owe it to all of our supporters to bring back a team even better next season."
