The 2024/25 Premier League campaign has come to a close, and it seems like Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer got their Wolves prediction spot on.
The Molineux outfit endured a torrid start to the season, something which eventually cost Gary O’Neil his job in early December.
Luckily for Wolves, though, O’Neil’s replacement, Vitor Pereira, managed to turn the tide in the West Midlands.
Despite teetering off in the final stages of the campaign, Pereira’s record-breaking start managed to secure safety for Wolves, eventually finishing in 16th.
In what has been yet another difficult season for the club, many at Molineux may have expected a tough ride heading into the campaign after hearing predictions from the likes of Lineker and Shearer.

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer’s Wolves prediction comes true
Molineux News predicted a bright campaign for Wolves ahead of the season, but that optimism quickly faded away under O’Neil.
It’s fair to say that the Rest Is Football podcast wasn’t feeling as positive about Wolves’ chances, though, with Lineker and co. predicting a ‘tough’ time for the Molineux side – something that would be proved right as the campaign wore on.

“I think it’s going to be tough for Wolves this season,” Lineker began.
“Very tough, Kilman and Neto gone. They still have Sarabia though, Sarabia’s a good player. I think similar to where they finished last season. Yeah I would say about 14th again,” Micah Richards added.
Shearer stated: “I think they will be in a relegation battle Wolves but I think they’ll just have enough to stay up. I think they are going to have a tough season.”
Lineker then agreed with his co-hosts, “I think it’s going to be hard for them this season. I think it will be close. I tipped them to go down last season and they did brilliantly so I’m not going to make that mistake again and predict they will just stay up.”
Wolves need to avoid poor start to 25/26 campaign
Despite what the pundits might say, the likes of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri gave Wolves reason to be positive heading into the campaign.
O’Neil’s shocking start to the season, though, derailed any sort of hopes, which is something Wolves must avoid next campaign.
The Molineux outfit have gained a bad habit of starting seasons slowly, with previous managers like Bruno Lage also losing their jobs after torrid starts.
If the club want to progress under Pereira’s leadership, they simply must start next season firing on all cylinders.
That, however, may be difficult with many Wolves fans fearing the worst ahead of what could be a tricky summer window.
