Arsenal ‘bidding hardest’ to sign player desired by Berta – Gunners ahead of PL rivals

Five days ago, El Chiringuito reported Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on Julián Alvarez. They also stated the Premier League duo are set to have a meeting this week and need to make a big offer to Atlético Madrid.

Tuesday’s edition of Marca covers Arsenal’s interest in the striker who is also on the radar of Liverpool and Barcelona.

The 25-year-old left Manchester City for the Madrid club in August and signed a contract until 2030. He starred in his debut season, managing 29 goals and seven assists from 54 games.

Diego Simeone wants to keep Alvarez happy, and he and Atlético want to make him the cornerstone of their new project. The Argentina international will continue to be their star irrespective of whoever arrives in the summer window.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Liverpool ‘interest is growing’ in the World Cup winner. His fine displays have aroused interest from the Premier League winners and the Gunners.

Marca state Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘bidding hardest’ to bring the former Manchester City man back to the Premier League. New Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta signed the player for Los Rojiblancos.

Berta knows well what Alvarez can offer and has included him in his priority target list.

Alvarez knows the Premier League but isn’t keen on returning and is happy in Madrid. He currently earns €7m per year and Atlético are well aware the likes of Arsenal and others can offer him higher salary.

Despite this, Marca report Atlético aren’t planning to offer a new contract to the South American.
