Thomas Partey’s Arsenal future hangs in the balance, as Turkish side Besiktas reportedly make significant progress in their pursuit of the Ghanaian midfielder.
According to Fanatik, Besiktas, under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, have held a productive meeting with Partey’s representatives. The Super Lig club sees Partey as a cornerstone signing for their midfield rebuild and are banking on Solskjaer’s leadership and the promise of regular football to entice him.

Partey’s current contract at Arsenal expires at the end of June, and although there have been discussions about an extension, no deal has been finalised. Mikel Arteta has been clear in his admiration for the midfielder’s contributions this season:
“In regards to Thomas, consistency-wise, it’s been his best season,” Arteta said.
“The way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional. He’s a really important player for us.”
When pressed on whether he wants Partey to stay, Arteta was unequivocal: “Yes.”
Yet the decision may not solely rest with Arteta. Partey’s performances have attracted interest from multiple clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Saudi Arabian teams, but it is Besiktas who have made the first concrete move.

Solskjaer’s project at Besiktas is gaining momentum. Having steered the club into fourth place and secured a Europa League spot, he is now focused on reinforcing the spine of his team. Partey, with his blend of defensive steel and passing range, is seen as a key figure in that plan.
The club’s approach reportedly emphasises regular first-team football, a central role in Solskjaer’s system, and a fresh challenge in a new environment. The Turkish giants are optimistic that this combination, along with competitive financial terms, will convince Partey to swap North London for Istanbul.
Arsenal’s summer conundrum
With Jorginho expected to join Flamengo, Arsenal’s midfield could be reshaped significantly this summer. Losing Partey would leave a sizeable gap, especially given his resurgence in form this season.
Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta must now decide whether to accelerate contract talks or risk losing Partey to a club that is already taking proactive steps.
