Dissed.
Say you don’t know what you are typing about, without saying you don’t know what you are typing about.
There is this _Bleacher Report_ reject who works for CBS by the name of Cody Benjamin. The guy types some of the most mindless crap you will ever see on the NFL.
Makes Joe wonder if the guy is related to lockjaw Scott Pelley or something. Maybe he’s Norah O’Donnell’s dependent?
[But this one](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-announces-new-protector-of-the-year-award-top-2025-candidates-include-eagles-49ers-lions-stars/) from Benjamin takes the cake. In the past, Benjamin has been a Bucs non-believer. Joe won’t type “hater” because that’s very strong. But Benjamin has been the type to write the obituary of the Bucs each year.
You know the type: _Derek Carr is the new savior of New Orleans. … Kirk Cousins will lead the Dixie Chicks to the Super Bowl._ Jiminy Christmas!
Even when Benjamin couldn’t get away or around typing something good about the Bucs, it was always qualified and at best, half-hearted, as if the guy was being forced by an editor to be kind to the Bucs.
As a result, Joe tries not to link to his sewage from an otherwise fine news organization loaded with folks Joe admires.
Well the following just frosts Joe. Benjamin picked the top-five tackles in the game, In other words, his guess as the leaders to win the NFL’s newest player award for the best “protector” in the game. That is, the best offensive lineman.
OK, hey, it’s summertime. It’s list season until training camps open up.
So who does Benjamin have in his top-five tackles? Well, not Bucs left tackle Tristan Wirfs, who is coming off a(nother) All-Pro season.
That’s asinine enough. But then you read this, Benjamin has Penei Sewell in his list. OK, Sewell is a very good right tackle who is a two-time All-Pro at right tackle.
Guess what? Sewell wasn’t named All-Pro at right tackle for years because — hang on — Wirfs was the All-Pro right tackle! Only until Wirfs got flipped to left tackle did Sewell become an All-Pro. Not that he wasn’t worthy.
Wirfs was named All-Pro last year. Again. There are only two All-Pros for tackles. So this was good enough for Benjamin to pick Sewell as a top-five tackle, but not Wirfs?
Gee, couldn’t be because Wirfs plays for that damned Florida Man team, would it Cody?
In fact, last year, when Wirfs was named All-Pro, he became the first offensive lineman in NFL history to be named All-Pro at both left and right tackle. Never happened before.
Not good enough for Benjamin. Nah, Wirfs is just an “honorable mention.”
When a two-time All-Pro, including a guy like Wirfs who became All-Pro at both tackle positions, isn’t good enough to be some clown’s top-five, then that clown needs another line of work. That just screams this guy Benjamin has no idea what he’s typing.
This dude should be doing lists for the women’s non-basketball association. That’s about his speed.
