'He’s a top player’: Marc Cucurella super excited about the potential of ‘quality’ Chelsea teenager

Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella has singled out one young teammate he suggests has a massive future ahead of him.

It’s well documented that the current Chelsea squad is extremely young, stacked full of rising stars with huge potential.

Despite the group’s inexperience, Blues manager Enzo Maresca managed to deliver Champions League qualification during his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

At the age of 26, Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella is one of the more senior figures at the club. He’s led by example with his performances this year, too.

Robert Sanchez lauded Marc Cucurella by describing him as one of the world’s very best left-backs right now.

Marc Cucurella tips Chelsea talent Tyrique George for big things

During an interview with UEFA’s YouTube channel, Cucurella raved about the quality and potential of Chelsea’s Tyrique George.

He claims that the 19-year-old attacker, who’s a product of the Chelsea academy, is very talented.

When discussing Blues teammate George, Cucurella said: “I think he’s a top player. He has a lot of quality. He has a good future. He has a lot of talent.”

Even though George started the 2024/25 season playing youth football, he’s finished it as a full first-team player. He’s made 24 senior appearances across all competitions this term, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him finish it by featuring in Wednesday night’s Conference League final against Real Betis.

Tyrique George is super ambitious because he’s admitted his goal is to play as much football as possible, whether that’s at Chelsea or somewhere else. Hopefully, he feels he can continue to develop and play as part of Maresca’s squad next season.

Tosin Adarabioyo’s prediction for Tyrique George is that he has the potential to kick off and become a star.

Enzo Maresca should start Tyrique George against Real Betis

On Wednesday night, Chelsea wrap up their season by competing for European silverware with the Conference League final against Betis in Wroclaw, Poland.

The temptation must be there for Maresca to name his strongest XI because a trophy is on the line, but we would like to see a mix between the star names and the individuals that have contributed the most in the club’s Conference League run.

Filip Jorgensen will start against Real Betis despite being the second-choice goalkeeper.

It would be great to see George, along with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, also find their way into the starting line-up as a reward for their eye-catching displays in Europe this season.

George has really come alive in the club’s Conference League run to show supporters what he can do, so it would be fantastic to see him take on the Betis challenge.
