The Milwaukee Bucks are considering a bold plan to use the 2025-26 season as a “gap year” to rebuild around Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

After 12 seasons with the team, this strategy aims to keep Giannis loyal while giving the Bucks a chance to regroup and reload the roster.
Last season, Giannis delivered stellar numbers, averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game while shooting 60.1% from the field.
He’s currently in the first year of a three-year, $175 million contract extension signed in October 2023.
The Bucks finished the 2024-25 season with a solid 48–34 record but were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers for the second consecutive year.
Injuries, including Damian Lillard Achilles tear, played a major role in the disappointing postseason.
