Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta has “spoken on the phone” with AC Milan winger Rafael Leao over the past couple of weeks, according to reports in France.
The Portuguese international is believed to be among the targets under consideration as the Gunners look to strengthen the forward line and Foot Mercato claims Berta contacted the player to gauge his interest in moving to the Emirates.

Leao has had a good season for Milan, having scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in 50 appearances but the Rossoneri have failed to qualify for Europe.
It means the Serie A side will be open to selling some of their prized assets this summer to fill a sizeable gap in their accounts.
Leao is just one of “several” options being looked at
Foot Mercato report that the 25-year-old is currently not the number one target for Arsenal, stating they are “exploring several avenues before making a final decision.”
Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is also thought to be a candidate, along with the likes of Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.
Links with the latter emerged over the weekend, with it being suggested that the African Player of the Year is “waiting” for an offer from Mikel Arteta’s side.
Arsenal are hoping to sign a striker too
In addition to reinforcing their options on the left flank, the Gunners are planning to spend big on a new No.9. It is believed that Berta prefers a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, while Arteta and others are keener on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
