Manchester United are ready to battle Liverpool to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star forward Hugo Ekitike during the summer transfer window. United are planning a squad overhaul during the summer to back Ruben Amorim for next season after last season’s misery.

Both Zirkee and Hojlund have not contributed consistently and have also struggled to establish themselves as regular starters under Amorim. The former Sporting CP boss enjoyed great success in Portugal by deploying Viktor Gyokeres regularly as his trusted forward player.

The 22-year-old has made 48 appearances for Frankfurt in all competitions this season, contributing 22 goals and providing 12 assists. Standing at 1.90 metres, Ekitike has a physical presence, yet he uses his flair, movement and agility to build attacks.
