Brighton in ongoing talks to sign 23 G/A star – Seagulls officials determine him to be ‘best fit’

Brighton & Hove Albion have identified OGC Nice’s Evann Guessand as a priority target if João Pedro were to leave The Amex in the summer window, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The journalist provides more on the Seagulls’ interest in Guessand for Sky Sport CH. He claims talks are ongoing between Brighton and the 23-year-old over a potential transfer.

João Pedro has impressed for the Premier League club this season, managing 10 goals and seven assists. He managed to attract interest from other clubs, including Chelsea.

Faced with the possibility of losing the 23-year-old Brazilian, Fabian Hürzeler’s side have drawn up a short list of candidates to replace him. Guessand is one the priorities of the English club.

Tavolieri reports Brighton’s scouts, using advanced statistics software, determine that the French-born Ivory Coast international is the ‘best fit’. His contract is until 2028 and the reporter states he’s valued at €25m.

The forward scored 13 goals and registered 10 assists from 42 games for the Ligue 1 club this season. He’s also managed to attract interest from the Bundesliga.

If Pedro were to leave, Tavolieri states Brighton have to be ‘proactive’ with both the player and Nice, to beat competition from Germany.
