Leeds “still in race” to sign 24y/o int’l after talks held; Burnley pushing hard

Leeds United and Burnley are both back in the Premier League after securing automatic promotions this season.

Both Burnley and Leeds are looking to bolster their goalkeeping department this summer, and they have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz.

The Whites have held talks to sign Peretz already, but they face strong competition from PSV Eindhoven.

Bayern are happy to send the Israeli goalkeeper out on loan this season, as they want him to play regularly, something they cannot offer right now.

Christian Falk has now informed CF Bayern that Burnley are pushing hard to sign Peretz, but Eindhoven are leading the race at the moment.

Leeds are “still in the race” to sign the former Maccabi Tel Aviv goalkeeper. Genoa could be another option for the Bayern keeper.

The Whites could lose their first-choice keeper, Illan Meslier, this summer, and even if he stays, the club need another strong keeper to challenge for the number one spot.

According to a recent report from Bild, Bayern will not take Peretz to the Club World Cup in the US, which means the 24-year-old can fully concentrate on picking his next club.

Bayern want to avoid a situation where Peretz is left behind in a potential battle for the number one spot. It means his future will be sorted out quickly.

Daniel Peretz should aim for Premier League move

While Eindhoven can offer him Champions League football, Peretz will grow as a player by moving to the Premier League.

Leeds and Burnley have rich footballing pedigrees, and it would be a great learning experience for him. Peretz wants to become a regular keeper for Bayern, and for that, he needs to enjoy a strong full season on loan.

A move away from Bayern thus makes a lot of sense. The Bavarian club are looking to offload some of their unwanted players this summer, but Peretz should not worry about his future.

The likes of Mathys Tel, Kingsley Coman, Palhinha and Sacha Boey could be offloaded, while Bayern are willing to sell Manchester United target Leon Goreztka.

As it stands, Leeds are still in the race to sign Peretz, but they probably need to move faster and present a lucrative loan deal to persuade the Israeli international to join Elland Road.
