Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres fires six-word message ahead of imminent transfer decision

Viktor Gyokeres continues to bask in his latest glory with current club Sporting CP.

Gyokeres, 26, has now completed his second season playing in Portugal. In that time he has scored 97 goals in 102 appearances, firmly putting him on the radar of Europe's top clubs ahead of the next transfer window.

And that would include Arsenal, who, without an out-and-out striker, have proven lacking in the final third at times, finishing Premier League runners-up for the third season in a row.

Netting the latest of his goals in this past weekend's Portuguese Cup success over rivals Benfica, Gyokeres thoroughly enjoyed the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

This is his third piece of silverware with Sporting, and on his latest Instagram post he flaunted it in style.

"Walk it like I talk it," the striker wrote alongside his latest post - a video walking down Portugal's Estadio Nacional, whistling with the cup hoisted over his shoulder.

Arsenal recognise they could do with a man of Gyokeres' confidence if they are to break their increasing wait for silverware.

football.london understands they are long-term admirers of the Sweden international, dating back to his time at Coventry City.

He would appear to now be on the market for around £60m.

But it might not be simple were rivals to stand in the way - Manchester United with Gyokeres' former Sporting CP boss, Ruben Amorim, have also been linked.

Sporting may also prove to be tough negotiators. "I'm hopeful that he stays," manager Rui Borges told ZeroZero after winning the cup.

"I hope he stays, he is still under contract. But if he does leave, he deserves that, he's given us a lot. He has an enormous attitude and is an example for all the whole team and I feel honoured to be his manager."

The striker himself added: "Let's see, it's football and we never know what might happen. To say something concrete is impossible.

When asked about Arsenal's interest, the Swede remarked: "I don't know anything, I tried to remain focussed in the last games. If anything is true, we'll see."
