Transfer timeline set out as Nottingham Forest man attracts serious interest

Nottingham Forest winger Ramon Sosa is said to be a target for Palmeiras ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old found it tough to force his way into Reds head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s thinking during his first season in England. As such, he is among a group of players whose futures are in doubt as Forest plot changes to the squad in preparation for the 2025/26 campaign.

Outgoings as well as incomings are on the cards at the City Ground this summer. And all the signs point to Sosa being likely to move on.

According to Brazilian publication BolaVIP, Palmeiras are “really interested” in the wide man. It is said the club are keen to snap him up ahead of the Club World Cup, which starts on June 14.

Forest are said to be “open to hearing offers” for the player they signed from Talleres for £11 million 12 months ago. Flamengo have previously been credited with an interest in Sosa.

The Reds reportedly turned down a bid from Palmeiras for the winger in January because he made it clear he did not want to leave. However, his stance seems to have changed due to his lack of game time. ESPN claim the player is “not comfortable” with his situation at the City Ground.

Sosa made 19 Premier League appearances in the Garibaldi during the season just gone, but only one as part of the starting XI. It was telling that he remained an unused substitute on Sunday, despite Forest being desperate for a goal as they fell 1-0 to Chelsea on the final day of the campaign and missed out on the possibility of Champions League qualification.

The transfer window opens on Sunday (June 1) for Premier League clubs. It will remain open until June 10 then close until June 16 before remaining open until September 1. This is due to what the Premier League described as “an exceptional registration period relating to the FIFA Club World Cup”.

It is expected to be a busy summer on the banks of the Trent. Forest's priority is to ensure Nuno has sufficient strength in depth to be able to compete on several fronts after qualifying for the UEFA Conference League.

On the subject of transfers, the Portuguese said after his team's final-day defeat: “Now is the moment to start thinking about that. The club has been working and now we are going to sit down and look and decide and prepare the future. Now is the moment that it is suitable to do it."
