Goalkeeper to return to Manchester United

Manchester United’s gruelling season is far from over, with the squad embarking on a lucrative post-season tour of Asia that will net the club around £7.8 million.

While Ruben Amorim has taken 32 players to Malaysia and Hong Kong, several loanees and fringe players have been left behind, sparking debate over their futures.

The Red Devils are set to begin pre-season against Leeds United in Sweden on 19 July before flying to the US, and selection decisions will begin to take shape soon.

For one loanee, however, the future is already a talking point after an outstanding season abroad.

Radek Vitek has completed a full-season loan with Austrian Bundesliga outfit BW Linz, where he was the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Radek Vitek made 28 appearances, kept seven clean sheets, and helped Linz achieve a top-six finish — a historic achievement for the club in just their second Bundesliga season.

He took to social media to send a heartfelt farewell message: “To everyone at BW Linz, what a season it’s been.

“I’m truly grateful for the chance to represent this club — playing in front of such passionate supporters was something special.”

“Every match, every moment meant a lot, and hearing your voices from the stands is something I’ll never forget.”

“Together, we achieved something amazing — derby dominance with 2/2 clean sheets, and a historic top 6 finish in only the club’s second Bundesliga season.

“It’s been an honour to be part of that journey.”

“Thanks for all the memories — I’ll carry them with me.

“BW Linz will always have a place in my heart.”

Vitek previously won the FA Youth Cup with United in 2022 alongside Kobbie Mainoo and has trained with the first team on numerous occasions.

He also impressed last summer during a pre-season game against Rosenborg, where he was voted man of the match by United fans.

Remarkably, Vitek made just one error leading to a goal during his loan spell — compared to five from current United number one Andre Onana.

With doubts surrounding the futures of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, Vitek is now a serious option — but whether United give him the platform or cash in remains to be seen.
