Man United will be without European football next season for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign – a huge blow for the club’s finances.

The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League but missed out on a Champions League place after losing 1-0 against Tottenham in the Europa League final last week (21 May).

Man United will already be £25-30million down on their budget after their lowly league finish under Ruben Amorim.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have already kickstarted a cost-cutting mission at Old Trafford after the club recorded a net loss of £113.2million for the 2023-24 campaign.

However, former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson has exclusively told Football Insider that United will bank a welcome boost of more than £30million.

Man United bank £30m+ prize money boost

Borson revealed Man United will finish the 2024-25 campaign with a welcome boost of around €40million (£33.5million) in Europa League prize money.

United were unbeaten in the competition up to their narrow loss against Spurs in the Bilbao showpiece.

Borson has previously told Football Insider (25 May) that the Red Devils have a £80million hole in their accounts after missing out on Champions League football.

The finance expert revealed Amorim’s side have also missed out on around €5million (£4.2million) as they will not play in the Uefa Super Cup.

He told Football Insider: “They will finish this season banking around about €40million of prize money.

“Maybe a little tiny bit less. They miss out on obviously the winners’ bonus. That’s about €7million.

“On top of that, they won’t play the Super Cup game, that’s €4million.

“You get another €1million if you win it.

“And of course, the big prize was the Champions League qualification, so they obviously have zero in for the Champions League next season.”
