Arsenal have made an offer for Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres worth in excess of €70m (£58m), Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha has claimed (via SportWitness).
The Gunners have reportedly stepped up their interest in the Sweden international with an initial proposal worth around €70m, plus a ‘target-based’ bonus fee.
Gyokeres is also believed to have been offered a five-year contract worth an annual salary of €7m (£5.8m), along with a signing bonus of €12m (£10m).
Arsenal representatives reportedly met with Gyokeres’ agent Hasan Cetinkaya at the Women’s Champions League final in Lisbon last weekend and presented the offer, which will be proposed to Sporting president Frederico Varandas during a meeting on Tuesday.

According to Correio da Manha, Varandas had refused to hold any meetings regarding Gyokeres’ future ahead of the cup final against Benfica last weekend, where Sporting emerged victorious and secured their first double in 23 years.
Now that the season has ended, Gyokeres’ future at Sporting is expected to become a hot topic again, with a host of European and Premier League clubs believed to be interested in the 26-year-old.
While Arsenal are currently seen as leading the race for the Swedish goalscorer, Bayern Munich have also requested information and are keeping tabs on his developing situation in Lisbon.
Gyokeres, praised as ‘the best striker in the world’, is coming off another sensational season at Sporting, with 54 goals and 13 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions.
The 26-year-old is expected to leave the Portuguese capital this summer, two years after arriving from Championship side Coventry City.
