Chelsea were one of the clubs that pipped Aston Villa to Champions League qualification on the final day of the season, and now they’re linked with a potential move to sign their key player Morgan Rogers.
The Blues are back in next season’s Champions League after sealing fourth spot in the Premier League by beating Nottingham Forest on Sunday, so the club’s fans will hope that leads to a productive summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Villa ended up in sixth spot and now enter the Europa League after losing to Manchester United on the final day.
The future of Villa and England star Morgan Rogers, 22, has been discussed in the transfer rumour mill ahead of the summer window.
It’s been reported that Chelsea added Morgan Rogers to their shortlist amid concerns that Villa may need to sell him to comply with PSR rules.
In addition, Chelsea would look to use Morgan Rogers on the left wing if they manage to bring him to Stamford Bridge. The super talented youngster has proven he’s a major attacking threat anywhere on the pitch, showing versatility to play on either wing or as a No 10 in Villa colours.

Chelsea sense Morgan Rogers deal may be more realistic
According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea feel like their chances of signing Rogers have been increased after bagging Champions League qualification and seeing rivals Villa miss out.

It is explained that the Blues are ‘sensing an opportunity’ to sign the 22-year-old playmaker in the next transfer window. In fact, Enzo Maresca’s side are ‘adamant’ that a deal to sign the Villa talisman is now more plausible.
The report says that Rogers, who has a £90m price tag, is not someone that Villa want to lose. However, Chelsea are undeterred by that and may go to the negotiating table in the coming weeks for the attacker.
Chelsea’s transfer plan this summer includes going after a right-footed winger. Even though Rogers does like to drift centrally to influence games, he can be effective starting from the left of attack.

It’s no surprise that Rogers is linked with a big-money transfer move this summer because he’s just wrapped up a phenomenal individual campaign.
