Midfielder Mason Mount has said he and his Manchester United teammates are "very excited" to be in Asia for the club's post-season tour.

United will face an ASEAN All-Stars XI in Malaysia on Wednesday before taking on Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Stadium on Friday. The club announced plans for a post-season tour at the beginning of April, outlining that it would generate "significant additional revenue".

For the players, it marks a rapid turnaround between games, with United only bringing the curtain down on their Premier League campaign as recently as Sunday, beating Aston Villa 2-0 at Old Trafford. The squad immediately flew out to Malaysia after the game.

Nevertheless, Mount has been impressed by the welcome he and his teammates received upon arrival in Malaysia.

"It was a quick turnaround, obviously straight on the plane after the game," Mount told reporters.

"We're all very excited to be over here, we don't get the opportunity to be over this side of the world and see our fans over here very often, so we obviously want to make the most of it.

"We got off the plane and there were hundreds of people waiting for us, to take pictures and welcome us to the country.

"So I'm very excited to be over here and obviously looking forward to the game tomorrow."

Head coach Ruben Amorim has taken a 32-man squad to Asia with him for the two-game tour, meaning he is expected to rotate his pack over the course of the clashes with ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong. In the opinion of Mount, that is only a good thing.

He added: "As the gaffer said, any time you put on that shirt and you're representing the club you want to perform to the best of your ability.

"We want to win the game and it's going to be a competitive game playing against the All-Stars, so we're looking forward to it and we want to perform the best we can."
