Meczyki claims that Mikel Arteta’s side have been keeping a close eye on Ede’s progress “for weeks” and there is a chance that they could firm up their interest this summer.

It is believed that Motor Lublin are hoping to get at least €7m (£5.9m) by selling the teenager.

What do Arsenal fans need to know about the player?

Ede came through the youth ranks of Lublin before making his first senior appearances for the club’s second string in Poland’s third tier, playing three consecutive games against Pogon Grodzisk, GKS Jastrzebie and Swed Szczecin late last year.

A few months later, the defender made his first-team debut, starting and playing the full 90 minutes against Stal Mielec during a 4-1 victory. He also got on the scoresheet.

Ede has subsequently gone on to feature in 5 more matches for Motor Lublin, including the final game of the season against Radomiak a few days ago. He is a Poland Under-18 international, having received two caps against Belgium and Scotland in friendlies this campaign.

Could Ede replace another Polish player?

The centre-half is left-footed, much like his fellow countryman Jakub Kiwior. The 25-year-old has been tipped to leave the Emirates this summer despite playing a prominent role since Gabriel‘s injury.

It is up for debate whether Ede has the experience to become part of Arsenal’s first team straight away, even if he were brought in as an understudy. It is definitely a transfer story to keep an eye on as we head into the summer transfer window.
