Ruben Amorim proves why Sir Jim Ratcliffe brought in perfect Man Utd manager after his elite four-word message

Ruben Amorim has shown exactly why Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos made the right call to bring him to Old Trafford after the Manchester United manager’s latest message.

The 40-year-old Manchester United manager is preparing for the Red Devils’ post-season tour and the Premier League club will face ASEAN All-Stars on Wednesday.

Ruben Amorim left Sporting CP last November and the Portuguese coach became the sixth permanent United head coach in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October after a poor start to the 2024-25 season and Amorim was left with a massive challenge at Old Trafford.

United continued to struggle in the Premier League under Amorim and the Red Devils ultimately finished the campaign languishing in 15th place in the table.

But ex-Sporting CP boss Amorim oversaw a better period of form for United in the Europa League run and the Red Devils reached the final in Bilbao last Wednesday.

Amorim watched on from the sidelines at the San Mames Stadium as United fell to a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the 2025 Europa League final in Spain.

United’s loss in the Europa League final left Amorim without any silverware in the campaign and the club missed out on Champions League football for next season.

Ruben Amorim shows his true mentality as Man Utd manager ahead of the ASEAN All-Stars clash in Malaysia

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos have stuck with Ruben Amorim as Manchester United manager after Erik ten Hag was axed from the Premier League club in 2024.

Amorim even suggested that he would be ready to walk from Old Trafford if the United board or United fans had lost faith in him after the Europa League final.

The United manager has a busy summer ahead of him at Old Trafford, including the post-season tour, pre-season campaign and the opening of the transfer window.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Amorim showed his incredible work ethic by suggesting that he doesn’t feel the need to “disconnect.”

The former Sporting CP head coach made it clear in a four-word admission about not needing to “rest” and has already turned his attention to the “new season.”

“It was important to finish the season, we needed to close that chapter,” Amorim said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“It’s not fully behind us because I have one row of English journalists, so I will rest from that when we finish the tour.

“I closed that chapter, I’m excited, I’m nervous, I want to work to the next season, I don’t have that feeling to disconnect, I had the feeling to close the season but now it’s a new season. I don’t need rest.”

United will travel to the Bukit Jalil National Stadium to face ASEAN All-Stars in a friendly match in Malaysia and Amorim has welcomed the experience of the tour.

“It’s amazing to see even in difficult seasons to see how many fans this club has,” he said.

“It’s our duty to be here, it’s a pleasure, they are outside, following this club for many years and it’s really important to have that connection.

“It makes this club one of the best clubs in the world, so we are happy to be here.

“I see it first of all, every game we play we have a big responsibility, we want to respect all this attention, all this kindness from everybody, we want to have a good performance and we have a lot to do, like you saw this season, if there is any game to be played, we are going to use it to improve the team, we have almost all of the squad here.

“Maz [Noussair Mazraoui] had an injury on Sunday but the rest are here, we also have young kids that have to understand what it means to play for Manchester United.

“It’s an important moment for us to play this game.”

The friendly match between United and ASEAN All-Stars at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium is scheduled for a 1:45pm kick-off time in the UK.
