Liam Gallagher sends message to Liverpool after car incident at title parade

Liam Gallagher has sent his condolences to those affected by the distressing car incident in Liverpool. During Liverpool's Premier League trophy parade in the city on Monday, a vehicle ploughed into the crowd, resulting in numerous injuries.

Following the incident, a 53 year old white British man was detained near the scene by Merseyside Police. Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims of Merseyside Police clarified that the "horrific incident" isn't being treated as an act of terrorism despite the immediate arrest. The Liverpool FC CEO sent his 'heartfelt thoughts' to all fans involved. Jurgen Klopp also posted an emotional message.

Liverpool postponed all internal staff events, as Prime Minister Keir Starmer issued a second statement. In the aftermath, former Oasis frontman Liam took to X, the platform previously known as Twitter, to join the myriad of celebrities extending their well-wishes. "Thoughts and prayers with all our brothers and sisters of LIVERPOOL," he expressed to his 3.8 million followers.

Expressing her appreciation for the collective response, Merseyside Police Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims remarked: "I want to thank all of the emergency services, partner agencies and members of the public who came to the assistance of the injured following this evening's shocking incident, which we declared a major incident. This had been a joyous day in Liverpool with hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets to celebrate Liverpool Football Club's victory parade."

A statement confirmed: "A number of people have been injured and were taken to hospital. In addition, a large number of people of all ages were treated at the scene, but did not require hospital treatment."

During a Monday evening press conference, North West Ambulance Service's Dave Kitchin conveyed that 27 individuals had been taken to hospital, 20 were attended to on-site, and four youngsters were among those hurt. Disturbingly, two of the hospitalised victims, including one child, suffered serious injuries.

Some individuals also opted to seek medical help independently at local hospitals. Merseyside Police reported their response to an incident on Water Street just after 6 pm, which coincided with celebrations for Liverpool's Premier League title victory. Witnesses reported a dark grey people-carrier driving erratically through the crowds, horns blaring, hitting several fans in the process.

The accounts suggested that after momentarily stalling mid-street, the vehicle alarmingly sped up again into the crowd. Shocking footage showed people being struck down as the car continued to speed before it finally stopped on Water Street.

Police quickly encircled the vehicle. In the wake of the chaos, local police have asked the public not to speculate about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Their statement urged: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision. We would ask people not to share distressing content online but to send the footage or information directly to us @MerPolCC or pass on information by calling 101 quoting log 784."

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer shared that he had been in contact with Liverpool's Mayor regarding the upsetting incident, stressing: "Everyone, especially children, should be able to celebrate their heroes without this horror." In a statement, Starmer expressed his shock: "The scenes in Liverpool are appalling - my thoughts are with all those injured or affected."

He praised the emergency services and highlighted the city's solidarity: "They are supporting and caring for those injured in these terrible events. Everyone, especially children, should be able to celebrate their heroes without this horror. The city has a long and proud history of coming together through difficult times. Liverpool stands together and the whole country stands with Liverpool."
