Everton are keen on strengthening their squad in the summer transfer window, but they have already faced frustration over several targets.
David Moyes is keen to strengthen his attacking options and wants a striker as Dominic Calvert-Lewin enters the final weeks of his contract.
Everton have made contact with Ipswich striker Liam Delap, but may lose out as he is said to prefer a move to a Champions League club.
The Toffees have several other targets in mind, but Chelsea could be set to steal two of them from under their noses after a new development emerged.

Chelsea close in on Emanuel Emegha agreement
Chelsea could not only sign Delap ahead of Everton this summer, but they are now ready to prevent Moyes from landing another potential target.

Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha has been linked with Everton in recent weeks, but he could be set for a future move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea and Strasbourg share ownership groups, and Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that they have a plan in place for the forward to remain in France for one more year before moving to London.
This would mean that Everton’s chances of signing Emegha, both now or next year, have essentially been ruled out, in a frustrating blow.

Emegha could have been a smart signing for Everton
Emegha has impressed in France this season, netting 14 goals in 27 games in Ligue 1, and could have been the perfect profile of centre-forward for Moyes.
Beto has found some success since Moyes replaced Sean Dyche earlier this season, with his sheer physicality helping him provide a goalscoring presence upfront.
At 1.96 metres tall, Emegha could have provided a similar aerial threat to Beto or Calvert-Lewin, but would arrive as a younger and more clinical striker than either player.
The 22-year-old would also have plenty of potential to improve with regular game time, but Everton will now have to watch on as he gears up for a future at Stamford Bridge instead.
