Report: Liverpool set for multi-million pound windfall as Trent Alexander-Arnold update emerges

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit from Liverpool has been one of the most talked-about things to have emerged from Anfield over the last season or so.

Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah all had their contracts expiring at the end of the 2024-25 season, and while Salah and Van Dijk extended their Anfield stays, the right-back has chosen to explore pastures new.

The Englishman’s new club hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it’s fairly obvious that the defender is going to spend his next few years with Real Madrid.

However, as his contract with Liverpool expired, it meant that he was a free agent and that the Reds wouldn’t receive any sort of fee for his services, or so we thought.

Liverpool set to receive €5m for Trent Alexander-Arnold

As per a report from Spanish journalist Lucas Navarrete via X, it seems that Liverpool are set to earn around €5 million (£4.1 million) from Real Madrid for the early transfer of Alexander-Arnold.

The La Liga giants wish to have the defender as part of their Club World Cup squad, and unless they pay off Liverpool, the Englishman’s contract won’t be set to expire until July.

And, seeing as though the Club World Cup kicks off before then, Real will have to prise him away from Liverpool and reach an agreement.

On the face of things, this is a move that makes a lot of sense for both parties.

It means that the Reds will get some sort of fee for one of their most creative players, and it will also allow Xabi Alonso to get the right-back integrated into his squad sooner and ready for the 2025-26 season.

Jeremie Frimpong is an ideal replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold

Jeremie Frimpong’s transfer to Liverpool is now all but officially confirmed as the Anfield outfit have met the right-back’s £30 million release clause.

Much like Alexander-Arnold, his defensive capabilities have been questioned, but there’s no denying that he’s a massive threat when going forward.

This season alone, the Netherlands international has contributed to 17 goals and was once again one of Bayer Leverkusen’s most important players.

Conor Bradley 29 0 4

Although statistics don’t always tell the full story, on paper, it seems that Liverpool will have an extremely dangerous player on their hands next season.

The Dutchman can also play on the right wing if needed, which would allow Mohamed Salah to go more central if desired or even allow the Egyptian King to have a rest once in a while.

Indeed, the real test will come when he’s on the pitch for Liverpool, but from afar, the 24-year-old looks like a rather impressive coup.
