Former Aston Villa and Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke says Chelsea should consider making a move for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese legend scored his 800th club career goal against Al Fateh on Monday night but he has dropped a cryptic hint that he could leave Al-Nassr at the end of his contract. Asked by gamblingindustrynews.com whether the Blues could be a potential destination for the player, Yorke replied:
“Yeah, why would you not? He can still do it. With his ambition and ability, if Chelsea are playing the way that they can and creating for him, he’s still an incredible forward. I see no reason not to.”
“He’s better than what Chelsea have currently got up front there. I can tell you that they’re not the greatest team in that number nine position so I could see why he’s linked to that move.
“I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t take a punt on it but it’s just a no-brainer.”

Chelsea did consider signing Ronaldo 3 years ago
Following the takeover by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in 2022, there were reports linking the forward with a switch to Stamford Bridge.
It is believed that manager Thomas Tuchel rejected the possibility at the time and Ronaldo ended up leaving Manchester United and moving to Saudi Arabia instead.
Younger strikers are being targeted
Despite Yorke’s insistence that Ronaldo would be an upgrade on what Chelsea currently have up front, there is little to no chance of the Blues reviving their interest in the 40-year-old.
It is thought that the London club are favouring targets who are much younger than the Portuguese international.
Ipswich’s Liam Delap, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike are the three names who are said to be under consideration as head coach Enzo Maresca looks to strengthen his forward line.
