Carlton Cole has suggested Chelsea should think twice before pursuing a move for Alejandro Garnacho after the winger went public with his criticism of Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford appears in serious doubt, with Amorim reportedly telling the 20-year-old forward he can find a new club in the summer transfer window.
The Argentina international decided to kick up a fuss after being left out of United’s starting XI for the side’s crushing Europa League final defeat at the hands of Tottenham.
As the Red Devils searched in vain for an equaliser, Garnacho was only given 20 minutes to make a difference – and the youngster made his feelings abundantly clear after the final whistle.
‘Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes… I don’t know,’ an irate Garnacho said.

‘The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club.’
Garnacho has travelled with the rest of United’s first-team squad on the club’s post-season tour of Asia and could be in line to feature against ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong over the coming days.

But United are open to the prospect of selling Garnacho and have slapped a £60million price tag on the attacker, with Chelsea and Napoli believed to be keeping tabs on developments.
Chelsea have been credited with a strong interest for some time and made an unsuccessful bid to lure Garnacho to Stamford Bridge towards the end of the January transfer window.
However, ex-Chelsea and England striker Cole believes Garnacho’s recent remarks should come as a warning to Enzo Maresca and other potential suitors this summer.

‘He’s obviously advising himself! He’s going to have to learn from his mistakes because what he’s saying is too much and just too much information,’ Cole said on The Dressing Room Podcast.
‘I look at that situation and I just think it’s his advisers. If he was getting the right advice, you would just keep your mouth shtum.
‘Listen, that’s between you and the group. Don’t start airing out your dirty laundry.

‘Don’t come out with a statement. Now, if I’m trying to buy you and I’m looking how vocal you are in the press, I’m not going to be able to trust you so there’s repercussions of what you’re doing.
‘Keep shtum. I want to know that when I tell you a secret, it stays here in this room. I don’t want my dirty laundry aired out for the public to see.
‘If you’ve got a problem with me, come and tell me. Don’t go to Twitter, don’t go to Instagram… that makes it about you and not the team.
‘Keep your mouth shut, be a team member and you’ll get by. These things pass.’

Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole echoed Cole’s comments, encouraging Garnacho to be ‘smarter’ with his comments to the press in future.
‘I think a young player like that needs to be a bit smart. You’ve just lost a cup final, you don’t need to do that,’ the three-time Premier League winner chimed in.
‘His advisers… dreadful, dreadful advice for a young man.
‘What I would advise young players to do is, when you’ve had a bad defeat and you’re walking through the press, it’s got to be like when you’ve had an argument with your missus.
‘You’re angry and less is more. Nothing you can say is ever going to be right, you’re never going to make a point so just shut up, walk straight through and don’t say anything.
‘He’s clearly angry with his situation and I think he’s killed himself.’
