James McAtee seems to be keen on leaving Manchester City this summer. The Englishman received limited opportunities under Pep Guardiola this past season and even considered leaving the club during the winter transfer window. However, he ended up staying at the Etihad Stadium until the end of the current campaign, where the versatile midfielder managed only 27 appearances across all competitions.
Tottenham remain interested in McAtee. And injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar has endorsed Spurs to make a move for the Man City talent, having evaluated his injury record. He says the player’s “lack of game time” will not be a hurdle to pass his medical at the Hotspur Way if it does indeed reach that point this summer.
“I wouldn’t expect any injury-related issue here and he should clear his medical,” Dr Rajpal Brar exclusively told Tottenham News.
“While his game time has been erratic, the positive is that there have been no injuries.
“The added advantage is that he’s accustomed to the Premier League’s tempo and physicality.”

McAtee spent two seasons out on loan with Sheffield United. He played a key role in Sheffield United’s promotion two years ago. The Salford-born talent was unable to avoid the Blades from going down right away, and while he returned to City with some valuable experience last summer and hoped for more playing opportunities in the first team, he was not used regularly by Guardiola.

McAtee knows he has no long-term future at the Etihad and would like to join a club where he will get regular opportunities to shine. McAtee is a versatile player, someone who could challenge James Maddison for a spot in the first XI. The England Under-21 international has a clean injury record, which only bodes well for a club wanting him. Keeping these factors in mind, Spurs must make a move for McAtee, who is valued at around €25-30 million.
