Patriots OT Morgan Moses ‘pacing things out’ in recovery from offseason knee surgery

The [New England Patriots](https://www.patspulpit.com/) are enjoying good attendance during the voluntary portion of their offseason workout program. Among the participants is projected starting right tackle Morgan Moses, who is part of the proceedings despite undergoing surgery earlier in the offseason.

As the 34-year-old revealed following one of last week’s organized team activities, he had a procedure on his knee. He was a limited participant during the lone OTA session open to the media so far.

“Just pacing things out, obviously,” Morgan told reporters after practice. “I feel great coming back from a knee surgery, and stuff like that. Just getting acclimated, getting out there, running around with the guys. But I’m happy to put that helmet on, put that jersey on, and get out there running with the fellas. So, it’s been good.”

Before joining the Patriots via a three-year, $24 million free agency deal in March, Moses spent time in Washington, Baltimore and New York. His stint with the Jets in 2024 saw him start 14 games at right tackle, but also miss three contests due to a nagging knee injury.

He had originally suffered a sprained MCL as well as a bone bruise in a Week 3 game against his future team, the Patriots. After the season, Moses decided to undergo a cleanup procedure.

Despite the surgery, however, he made sure to be available for voluntary workouts in his first year in New England.

“Really important,” he said when asked his thoughts on the offseason program. “We have a young group. We have a young offensive line. Just being able to get around them, create that brotherhood, that chemistry, and just bringing them along is very important.”

A third-round draft pick in 2014, who has played 171 combined career regular season and playoff games, Moses is the most experienced player on the Patriots’ roster. As such, he is expected to take on a leadership role this coming season — a task he has [welcomed with open arms](https://www.patspulpit.com/2025/5/22/24434494/morgan-moses-mentor-will-campbell-patriots-young-lineman).
