Richard Keys takes £1.4bn swipe after Nottingham Forest defeat to Chelsea as he admits 'shame'

Richard Keys has poked fun at Chelsea over their celebrations after beating Nottingham Forest to a Champions League place.

The Reds were defeated 1-0 by Chelsea at the City Ground on the final day of the Premier League season.

The result meant Enzo Maresca’s side finished in fourth place in the table and qualified for the Champions League, while Forest ended the campaign in seventh spot, which earned them a place in the Europa Conference League next season.

Despite qualifying to play in Europe for the first time in 30 years, Forest’s disappointment at the final whistle was clear because they had looked to be in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League earlier in the season, while Chelsea players celebrated in front of their fans.

“Chelsea’s celebrations had me laughing,” said Keys in his latest blog.

“£1.4b spent in three windows. Well done lads - you finished fourth. I think I’d be a little more sheepish.

“If I’m honest, I wish Forest had made it. Nuno and his team have been brilliant at different times.

“They’ve been a breath of fresh air. It’s Europe for them, which is a fantastic achievement in itself, but they’re not in the competition they were aiming at. Shame.”
