**Big Dan Burn is about as Newcastle United as it gets. The Blyth-born giant was a season ticket holder before he embarked on his career as a professional footballer.**
Burn was a bit of a journeyman and had thought that his dream of playing for Newcastle was over when the Saudi PIF swooped in to buy the club.
All the talk was that our mega-rich owners were going to buy the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, but the reality was a lot different, and Dan Burn ended up being one of Eddie Howe's first signings.
Nobody sums up the Newcastle United spirit more than BDB, and he's had a season to match his passion, even getting called up for England at the ripe age of 32.

Dan Burn can't wait to get stuck into the Mackems again
Dan Burn is looking forward to the derby days next season
---------------------------------------------------------
As a Newcastle fan and player, Dan Burn was obviously buzzing that the Magpies made it to the Champions League for the second time in three seasons, but the 6'7" defender told [The Northern Echo](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/25191061.newcastles-dan-burn-cant-wait-face-sunderland-next-season/) he has his eye on another big fixture.
> “I want to play against the best teams, so I'd love to play against Madrid, Barcelona. That’s why you want to play Champions League football. It’ll be exciting.“But it’ll be good to even see Sunderland getting back to the Premier League. It’s such a weird thing because I’m really excited about it.

> “I shouldn’t be, but those were the games when I was a kid. The derby days were the first fixtures I’d look for when they came out. So, I wouldn’t say that I’m happy for them coming up, but I am happy that we get the derbies back.”
We share Dan Burn's conflicted thoughts on this one
---------------------------------------------------
Dan Burn's sentiments echo our own when it comes to Sunderland's Premier League comeback.
It's great to have the derbies back on the calendar as they bring that little bit of something extra with them, but having the Mackems being able to say they are literally in the same league as Newcastle is a bit sickening.
I mean, they're in the same league, but they are absolutely not in the same league. There's their Premier League (the bottom four) and there's ours, the top four.
