Ruben Amorim is set to hold meetings in the coming days over the future of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
Manchester United are preparing for a major overhaul this summer following one of their most disappointing campaigns in recent memory.
With European football off the table next season, Ruben Amorim will have a transfer budget of approximately £100 million. Any additional spending will rely heavily on player sales.
A number of departures are expected, including those currently on loan away from the club, such as Marcus Rashford, who spent the second half of last season with Aston Villa.
Rashford has been a key player for United over the years but held a fractious relationship with Erik ten Hag and then almost immediately set off on the wrong foot with Amorim.
He found his form once again at Villa Park and there are many rumours about where he will end up next season, whether that be back at Old Trafford or elsewhere.
Amorim to hold meeting over Rashford future
Despite most of the reports suggesting that there is no longer a future at Old Trafford for the 27-year-old, fresh information from GiveMeSport indicates that there could be a potential U-turn.
GMS journalist Steve Bates has reported that all options are being considered with Rashford and that Amorim is due to meet with Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox and the recruitment team in the coming days.
It was said that Rashford’s future will be a ‘major talking point’ during those discussions and that, given the club’s struggles, getting Amorim to patch things up with the player is believed to be on the agenda.
Rashford is likely going to be with United on their pre-season tour of the United States but that isn’t any indication that he would stay. Jadon Sancho did the same last summer.
Rashford return would cause split of opinion
If the club were to end up keeping Rashford, it would certainly cause a split of opinion within the fanbase, even if Amorim decides that he wants the forward to stay.
One aspect to consider, however, is that United have almost been working on the assumption that they will be receiving at least £40 million for the player – all of which is pure profit on the books.

Sales are important this summer and Rashford is one of the most valuation assets. The potential departure of Alejandro Garnacho is perhaps the only exit which would generate more cash for the club.
For many, it seems like Rashford’s time at his boyhood club is already over, with the player supposedly eager to join Barcelona as well.
