Report: Cody Gakpo Liverpool exit conditions emerge as Bayern Munich seek deal

Liverpool are set for a summer of change over the next few months, with many players already being linked with moves to and from Anfield.

The Reds are coming off the back of a season where they were the most dominant team in the Premier League, with hardly any of their rivals putting up much of a fight.

Granted, the Reds’ form did drop off somewhat towards the tail-end of the campaign, but when the title was secured so early, it’s not a surprise to see the players take their foot off the gas somewhat.

While many players are rumoured to be on the cusp of joining the Anfield outfit, some also seem to be on their way out with stories of players wanting to exit seeming to emerge every day.

Bayern Munich will have to sell players to buy Cody Gakpo from Liverpool

Over the last few days, rumours have started to pop up regarding the future of Cody Gakpo.

Bayern Munich are the team that seem to be the most likely to make a move for the Dutchman, with a new left-winger being their priority target this summer.

And, as per a report from Christian Falk via his CF Bayern Insider website, it seems that Vincent Kompany would have to sell some of his players in order to fund a move for the Dutchman.

The report states that Gakpo has emerged as one of Bayern’s ‘targets’ this summer after Florian Wirtz opted against joining the Bavarian outfit.

However, in order for a move to come to fruition, Bayern would have to ‘sell a few players’ to fund any potential moves.

Falk adds that while Gakpo would be ‘exciting business’ for the club, a move for Kaoru Mitoma or Rafael Leao would be more ‘realistic’ for Bayern to achieve.

Arne Slot must keep Cody Gakpo at Liverpool

Although Mohamed Salah has been Liverpool’s main man this season, Gakpo has been a close second.

The Dutchman has been deployed on the left wing as well as at striker and has once again come on leaps and bounds under the Liverpool manager.

At the moment, Luis Diaz seems to be the attacker who is most likely to exit Anfield with Barcelona’s sporting director even saying that he ‘liked’ the attacker.

The Colombia international has been long linked with a switch to the La Liga giants but as has been the case for the last few years, Barca’s financial troubles are causing a bit of trouble.

However, if Diaz does leave, that would mean that Gakpo is the only natural left-winger at the club, with Diogo Jota seen as more of a striker at the moment.

So, with this in mind, it makes an awful lot of sense for Slot to keep Gakpo around for as long as possible, especially with the form he’s shown this term.
