Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has penned an emotional message on social media after the horror incident during the club's trophy parade.
The Dutchman wrote on Instagram: "My thought and prayers are with everyone affected. Praying for a speedy recovery for everyone who suffered injuries. We are all with you."
A 53-year-old man has been arrested after a car hit a number of pedestrians in the city centre during the Premier League title celebrations on Monday.
Merseyside Police and the ambulance service confirmed in a press conference that 47 people were injured, 27 of whom had been taken to hospital with two, including one child, seriously injured.
Van Dijk's post comes after former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also expressed his support on social media.
He wrote: "My family and I are shocked and devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are injured and affected. You'll never walk alone."
