5 Arsenal players named in UEFA Women’s Champions League Team of the Season

Arsenal’s Champions League triumph has been recognised by UEFA’s Technical Observer Group, with five of their players named in the official Team of the Season.

Daphne van Domselaar, whose presence in goal was critical in Arsenal’s run, was named as the tournament’s standout goalkeeper.

Leah Williamson is also named alongside Emily Fox, both of whom kept Barcelona scoreless in the final.

Mariona Caldentey, already named FA WSL Player of the Season in her debut campaign in England, was included in midfield after a series of commanding displays, while Alessia Russo was selected up front, having led the line with intelligence, scoring seven goals, with one assist, in 11 games.

Barcelona, despite defeat in the final, also had four players in the XI. Aitana Bonmatí, who couldn’t quite believe they’d lost to Arsenal, was named Player of the Season, joined by María León, Patri Guijarro, and top scorer Clàudia Pina.

Semi-finalists Lyon and Chelsea each had one representative, with Melchie Dumornay and Sandy Baltimore completing the selection.
