Tottenham’s rivalry with Arsenal is set for the European stage as both clubs look forward to Champions League football next season.
Spurs defied all odds to qualify for the elite competition via their Europa League victory, while the Gunners followed a more conventional route of finishing second in the Premier League.
Plenty has been made of their respective seasons, with Arsenal both stunningly beating Real Madrid while ruing their inability to mount a serious title challenge following Manchester City’s fall from grace.
Tottenham broke records on all fronts, ending the season by lifting a trophy for the first time in 17 years at the cost of recording their worst ever league finish.
Both sets of fans can now look forward to their clubs potentially locking horns against each other in the Champions League, though Tottenham could already have the upper hand.

European exploits could bank Spurs £48m
Tottenham‘s Europa League triumph not only gave the fans a moment they had been dreaming of for 41 years, but also secured the club a huge windfall.
As reported by the Sun (27 May), the fact that they will compete in the UEFA Super Cup could result in their European financial payout overtaking Arsenal’s.
The Super Cup is worth £3.38m and could guarantee Spurs a total payout of £48m, which would be marginally more than the Gunners, despite being in a less lucrative financial pool.
This will be welcome news for both fans and Daniel Levy, who will be feeling the weight of expectation to improve the squad’s depth ahead of next season.

There have been mitigating factors, such as injuries and focusing on cup competitions, that the Australian could point to in his defence. However, it could be the financial guarantees that better speak Levy’s language.
The latest figures show that Postecoglou has brought Spurs to the same level as other Premier League giants, which perfectly aligns with Levy’s vision and could offer the Australian a lifeline.
