Cleveland Browns News and Rumors 5/27: Shedeur Sanders Rolls Rumor Rumbles and More Crapola...

OBR Newswire Bloviation Header

Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!

A mystery dominates today's OBR Newswire, that Massive Morning Missive of great renown, generally not known as a source of mysteries. Nope. We deal with documented facts from credible sources here. Most of the time, at least, when we're not whining about the clickbait nonsense we have to look through while compiling this incredible morning story.

Yesterday, I saw a story about how Shedeur Sanders had a Rolls-Royce while in college, and linked it, even though it came from a somewhat sketchy site. I later removed it because I had no faith in it. But the same story had been reported by supposedly legit sites like FOX Sports. So, who knows?

Somehow, that story morphed into claims that Sanders had spent his signing bonus with the Browns on a Rolls, via a less-than-always-accurate NFL rumormonger, Dov Kleiman, who may or may not actually be a guy named Dov Kieiman.

~~

Inspirational: Browns star rookie QB Shedeur Sanders bought himself a custom Rolls-Royce worth over $500K.

~~

Despite being drafted in the 5th round, Sanders had performed phenomenally thus far in Cleveland.

Well, it wasn't long before Shedeur Sanders himself tried throwing cold water on the rumor, resulting on Josina Andersen lecturing "Kleiman".

Another lie…. I’m focused on my team not a car purchase ! https://t.co/yRK1lvpgR6

Sanders' denial was later picked up by a bunch of sources, including USA Today.

Of course, the denial and such came after the usual assortment of clickbaiters and aggregators ran with the story. So, there are probably many people who make the mistake of reading those sites, or sites like Facebook, and believe the story.

Elsewhere in The Daily Sheduer, we have a site dropping Sanders' name after predicting that the Browns would take Cade Klubnik in the 2026 draft. The same site referencing Chad Johnson talking about him, and USA Today calling him a potential breakout rookie.

This doesn't count the three dozen stories in the Google News feed recycling things like LeSean McCoy talking about from last week. The volume of Shedeur Sanders stories is enormous, the credibility of them less so, and this article will probably get lumped into that mass of nonsense.

QUINSHON JUDKINS EXISTS AS WELL: Proving that the Browns have more players - even more rookies - than Shedeur Sanders, there were several stories that followed a Sports Illustrated (the main site, not the team-specific "OnSI" aggregators) interview with Judkins:

ACTUAL CREDENTIALED STUFF: There were a few stories from actual credentialed sites this morning:

ROCKS AND GARBAGE: The usual battling between Cleveland politicians and the Haslam Sports Group, for anyone interested. It won't make a difference.
