When discussing Blues teammate James, Caicedo told UEFA’s YouTube channel: “I see how he trains, and I see how he plays in games. I also watched him before joining Chelsea. In the UEFA Champions League final, he was fantastic. I think he’s been an idol for many people for a long time – me included.”
If you look across Chelsea’s young squad, James definitely has one of the most impressive CVs. The standout moment of the right-back’s career so far was definitely winning the Champions League back in 2021.
Chelsea fans showered Reece James with praise after watching their captain shine in Sunday’s Premier League victory against Nottingham Forest, which secured fourth position this season and a route back into next year’s Champions League.

Chelsea are starting to see the real Reece James return in 2025
It’s been extremely tough for Blues supporters to see James sitting on the sidelines so frequently in recent years because of various injury problems.
However, the talented defender has put together a solid second half of the season. He’s played 22 times across all competitions in 2025 since returning from the latest hamstring problem.
Without a doubt, Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca deserves major credit for managing his minutes sensibly and allowing him to regain some momentum in his career. Enzo Maresca claims Chelsea are better with Reece James playing in the side, so he’s done well to resist starting him every match.
When the Blues needed their key players to stand up, James starred in the team’s wins over Nottingham Forest and Manchester United in the final two league matches to get them a top-four finish.
