Paddy Pimblett issues statement after attending Liverpool parade with family

UFC star Paddy Pimblett has described his shock after a car crashed into fans during Liverpool's Premier League trophy parade, causing chaos on Water Street just after 6pm on Monday. The MMA fighter confirmed he and his family were present at the event.

Following the incident, it has been confirmed that 27 individuals were hospitalized, with two sustaining serious injuries, including one child. The tragic turn of events cast a shadow over what had previously been a jubilant day, as supporters gathered to celebrate Liverpool's triumph.

A fervent Liverpool supporter, Pimblett often shows his allegiance at Anfield or while competing in UFC bouts across the globe.

"Taking the baby's their first ever parade today was a memory I'll never forget the looks on their little faces looking at the spectacle and I'll have the pictures and videos to show them when they grow up," shared the 30-year-old athlete.

He continued: "Still cannot believe what actually happened after it, day of celebration turned into a worry for everyone who was there or even knew anybody there, friends and family messaging to make sure that they are safe something that we shouldn't have to do or worry about.

"I hope anyone injured has a fast recovery and anyone affected already knows they have the full city supporting them, red or blue it doesn't matter. Things like this are more important than football YNWA."

Several notable figures associated with Liverpool have shared support for those affected by the incident on Water Street.

Former Reds captain Steven Gerrard expressed his sympathies on social media, saying: “Shocked, sickened and saddened at the incident we all witnessed in our city last night. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the people involved and their families.”

Jurgen Klopp, the ex-manager of Liverpool, also shared his shock and devastation, stating: "My family and I are shocked and devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are injured and affected. You'll never walk alone."

In light of the incident, Liverpool has postponed their internal celebrations for club staff that were scheduled for Tuesday.

At least two people were seriously injured at the incident in Liverpool.

Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan also spoke on Tuesday, saying: "On behalf of all of us here at Liverpool Football Club, I would like to extend our heartfelt thoughts to all those who've been affected by this appalling incident on Water Street yesterday evening."

He added: "This weekend was one of celebration, emotion and joy spread across the city in our entire fan base, and it ended in unimaginable scenes of distress with this appalling incident.

"I'd like to pay tribute to our emergency services and partner agencies – Merseyside Police, North West and St John Ambulance Services, and Merseyside Fire and Rescue – who dealt with the incident, and now our hospital staff across the city who are dealing with those who are injured, including tragically four children.

"I would also like to thank our supporters who witnessed this event and helped each other where they could.

"We continue to work with the emergency services and the local authorities to support their ongoing investigation.

"And once again we would ask if anyone has any further information about the incident, please contact Merseyside Police. Thank you."
