**Carlo Ancelotti left his post at Real Madrid to take up the role of head coach for the Brazil national team with a view to turning things around for the South American side.**
Brazil have fallen off a cliff lately, with many Brazilian fans suggesting it has been due to managers trying to play a more 'European' style of football that doesn't suit the way Brazilians like to play.
However, most of their squad now play in Europe, so it makes sense, and we can't see Italian Carlo Ancelotti changing that.
Ancelotti is a world-class manager, though, and if he can't get this squad playing well, nobody can.

Carlo Ancelotti has an eye on Joelinton
---------------------------------------
The former Chelsea manager has named his first squad as Brazil coach, and he has included Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes, but there's no place in the squad for Joelinton, who is recovering from a knee injury. However, Ancelotti did mention the Toon midfielder in an interview with [Globo Esporte](https://ge.globo.com/futebol/selecao-brasileira/noticia/2025/05/26/ancelotti-explica-ausencia-de-neymar-e-diz-contamos-com-ele.ghtml), which heavily suggests that J7 is on his radar for future squads.
> “As I said, I tried to select players who are in good shape.“Neymar had an injury recently. Everyone knows that he is a very important player and always will be.
>
> “Currently, we have many players who suffer injuries and cannot be in the national team, like Neymar, the same is true of Rodrygo, Gabriel, Joelinton, Militão. What I want to say is that Brazil has many talented players.”
Joelinton has a difficult task of cementing a spot in the Brazil team
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Joelinton has been in and out of the Brazil set-up since his first call-up in 2023, struggling to make a meaningful impact.
A run of games would probably help him to settle, but even though they don't play like it much these days, Brazil's squad is still packed with stars, making it difficult for Joelinton to cement his place.
First and foremost, though, we need him to rest up and get himself fully fit for Newcastle. Club before country, Joey. Club before country.
