The Oklahoma City Thunder moved within one win of their first NBA Finals appearance in over a decade, edging the Minnesota Timberwolves 128-126 in a thrilling Game 4 on Monday night.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with a Playoff career-high 40 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists, becoming just the second player in Thunder history to post a 40/9/10 stat line in the postseason, joining Russell Westbrook. His dominance was matched by standout performances from Jalen Williams, who poured in a career-high 34 points with six three-pointers, and Chet Holmgren, who added 21 points, including nine in the fourth quarter.
After combining for just 37 points in a Game 3 loss, OKC’s star trio erupted for 95, setting a franchise Playoff record for most points by any three players in a game. They scored or assisted on every Thunder basket in the final quarter, accounting for 34 of OKC’s 38 fourth-quarter points.
“They weren’t rattled by the moment,” SGA said of Williams and Holmgren. “They deserve these moments.”
Now leading the series 3-1, the Thunder return to Oklahoma City for a potential closeout Game 5 on Wednesday, looking to punch their ticket to the Finals for the first time since 2012.
