Liverpool legend Ian Rush has led tributes following Monday's Premier League parade that left 47 people injured after a serious car incident.
Merseyside Police arrested a 53-year-old white male was arrested at the scene, but it is not being treated as a terrorist incident. At around 6 pm UK time, a car drove through a crowd of people at Water Street in the city center, where Liverpool was celebrating their Premier League title win.
Merseyside Police has confirmed that 47 people in total, including four children, were injured, and 27 people were rushed to hospital. Tributes to the injured fans have been pouring in across social media, including from Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Liverpool and Everton have released statements, and Reds players from past and present have spoken out about the incident.
Liverpool legend Rush is the latest to pen his thoughts. Rush played 654 times for the Anfield club, scoring 339 goals and winning five League titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups, and two European Cups. "Heartbroken and deeply disturbed by what happened at the end of our parade in our city last night," Rush said on Instagram.
"My heart goes out to everyone affected - thinking of all those involved and their loved ones during this difficult time. YNWA," Rush added. Liverpool.com has compiled other tributes in the aftermath of the incident.
