The British Royal Family has become the latest to send messages of support in the wake of the tragic events that took place in Liverpool on Monday.
Forty-seven people were injured in a devastating incident when a car ploughed through pedestrians shortly after Liverpool FC’s Premier League title-winning parade in the city center. Of the 47, 27 required hospital treatment, and two are described as having serious injuries.
While the public awaits an official update, there has been an outpouring of support from across the globe, ranging from current Liverpool players to politicians and public figures. King Charles III and Queen Camilla, who are on an official state visit to Canada, are the latest to send their best wishes in light of the terrible news.
“My wife and I were deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the terrible events that took place in Liverpool on Monday,” Charles said via a statement released on social media.
“It is truly devastating to see what should have been a joyous celebration for so many could end in such distressing circumstances. At this heartbreaking time for the people of Liverpool, I know that the strength of community spirit for which your city is renowned will be a comfort and support to those in need.
“Our prayers and deepest sympathy are with all those who have been affected, and my special gratitude goes out to the first responders, emergency services personnel and other individuals who rushed to the aid of the injured.”

Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, also posted a message via social media: “We are deeply saddened by the scenes in Liverpool yesterday.
“What should have been a joyful celebration ended with tragedy. Our thoughts are with those who were injured and to the first responders and emergency services on the ground. W & C.”
Prime Minister Kier Starmer was among those to speak on Tuesday. “Scenes of joy turned to utter horror and devastation,” he said.
“My thoughts, and the thoughts of the whole country, are with all of those affected - those injured which includes children, their family and friends, the whole community and Liverpool fans everywhere.

“I’d like to thank the first responders who did a great job last night and continue to do so. There is now an ongoing investigation and I am being kept updated, talking regularly to the mayor Steven Rotheram.”
Merseyside Police have confirmed that a 53-year-old white British male has been arrested in relation to the incident, which is not believed to be terrorism-related.
