Joan García speaks about his future after Arsenal, Newcastle United and Aston Villa claims

Earlier today, we covered a report from Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo which explained Joan García is having a meeting with his agent to decide which club he should join.

Barcelona, Napoli, AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen were named as interested parties, with Premier League clubs Arsenal, Newcastle United and Aston Villa named in the story as others who want the Espanyol player.

Earlier this week, Espanyol’s president spoke about rejecting an offer from Arsenal last summer, explaining how disappointed the goalkeeper was to miss out on the big move. Joan García was assured such a move would happen for him eventually, and now looks like the time.

Thanks to a €25m release clause in his contract with Espanyol, there’s unlikely to be many issues when it comes to the 24-year-old’s transfer fee.

Now the man himself has spoken, and Arsenal, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and the other interested clubs will be listening.

AS quote the player as saying:Ultimately, in football, news is coming out all the time, things are coming out. It ‘s not always the case that it’s true,” the goalkeeper seems to resolve, but continues: “I’m very calm, and whatever decision I have to make, I’ll think it through very carefully with my people and choose what will be best for me. And I’m sure it will be that way.”

The Spanish newspaper also state a move to the Premier League is Joan García’s priority, with Arsenal ‘in the best position’.
