Merseyside Police say they suspect the driver who ploughed into a crowd at the Liverpool Premier League parade was able to follow an ambulance onto Water Street. Up to 50 people have been treated for injuries in hospital after a car drove into a crowd shortly after Liverpool's two open-top buses had passed through the city centre.
A Merseyside Police statement said: “It is believed the driver was able to follow an ambulance onto Water Street after the roadblock was temporarily lifted so the ambulance could tend to a person who was having a suspected heart attack.”
