Liverpool parade crash victims update as police share details in press conference

Merseyside Police have issued an update on the fans injured by a car in Liverpool's Premier League trophy parade. On Monday night, it was revealed that 27 people had been taken to the hospital for treatment after the incident, including four children, while a further 20 were treated on the scene for minor injuries.

In a press conference, Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims has now confirmed that 50 people have been treated at hospital. Of those, 11 remain in hospital for ongoing treatment. She added: "They are all in a stable condition and they appear to be recovering well."

Simms said that an "extensive investigation" into the incident was now under way. She also reiterated a request for members of the public not to speculate over the circumstances around the crash, and asked people not to share distressing content online.

"I have no doubt regarding the impact that this appalling incident has had on those who were injured, their families and friends," she said. The officer also appealed for more witnesses to come forward if they had any infirmation on the incident.
